Meltdown at MessNBC

Olbermann, Matthews relieved as co-anchor chairs during any more political coverage on MSNBC, the leftist network rated lowest during convention coverage.

MSNBC said Sunday it is replacing Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews as co-anchors of political night coverage with David Gregory, and will use the two newsmen as commentators.

The change reflects tensions between the freewheeling, opinionated MSNBC and the impartial newsgatherers at NBC News. Throughout the primaries and summer, MSNBC argued that Olbermann and Matthews could serve as dispassionate anchors on political news nights and that viewers would accept them in that role, but things fell apart during the conventions.

Gregory, the veteran Washington hand, will anchor MSNBC’s coverage of the presidential and vice presidential debates and election night, said Jeremy Gaines, network spokesman. The change was first reported by The New York Times.

The tipping point appears to have come during the Republican convention when Olbermann, after the network aired a Sept. 11-themed video prepared by the Republicans, said that MSNBC should not have shown it.

MSNBC executives, who had publicly defended their anchors’ roles while privately monitoring it throughout the political season, made the change over the weekend after discussions with Olbermann. Despite the controversy around him, Olbermann has been a hero with left-leaning viewers and keyed MSNBC’s growth among coveted young viewers.

Next assignment for these two nitwits: clean up for Ashleigh Bancroft on Court TV or whatever it is called now.

During her acceptance speech last week, Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin talked about the “Washington elite” not accepting her qualifications for the job. Some delegates on the convention floor began chanting, “N-B-C, N-B-C.”

Olbermann began to have difficulty keeping his opinions in check, or simply stopped trying.

He sarcastically dismissed GOP pundit Pat Buchanan on the air after Buchanan said the GOP had been enlivened by the entrance of a conservative Republican.

In interviews, 10 current and former staff members said that long-simmering tensions between MSNBC and NBC reached a boiling point during the conventions. “MSNBC is behaving like a heroin addict,” one senior staff member observed. “They’re living from fix to fix and swearing they’ll go into rehab the next week.”

The Styrofoam Savior is beginning to lose ground to McCain-Palin anyway.

Highlights of Fred Thompson’s speech at the Republican National Convention Sept. 2, 2008.

Now our opponents tell you not to worry about their tax increases.

They tell you they are not going to tax your family.

No, they’re just going to tax “businesses”! So unless you buy something from a “business”, like groceries or clothes or gasoline … or unless you get a paycheck from a big or a small “business”, don’t worry … it’s not going to affect you.

They say they are not going to take any water out of your side of the bucket, just the “other” side of the bucket! That’s their idea of tax reform.

My friends, we need a leader who stands on principle.

We need a President, and Vice President, who will take the federal bureaucracy by the scruff of the neck and give it a good shaking.

And we need a President who doesn’t think that the protection of the unborn or a newly born baby is above his pay grade.

The man who will be that President is John McCain.

Obama’s convention bounce was as high as a deflated basketball’s  .   His numbers are the same as his pre-convention numbers.  So much for the speech that David Gergen, on CNN, described as a symphony.  It was ot of tune.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday—the day before the Republican National Convention is scheduled to begin—shows Barack Obama ahead of John McCain by three percentage points both with and without leaners. That’s exactly the same edge Obama enjoyed a week ago on the eve of the Democratic National Convention.

Today’s numbers show a one-point improvement for McCain, but Obama still leads 47% to 44%. When “leaners” are included, it’s Obama 49%, McCain 46%

Lucy Moreland-Smith, a deputy clerk at Youngstown Municipal Court, called a friend from the restaurant said gushed into the phone that she was watching the man she believed would be the next president eats breakfast:

“They’re just eating and talking like normal people,” she said. “And look, he is just talking like a normal conversation with his wife while he’s sitting there eating and drinking coffee. He stuffed his mouth with eggs. I love him. He’s my kind of guy.”

The Obamessiah eats just like a regular guy.   Who knew?

The Speaker of the House in an attempt to demonstrate her omniscience fails miserably.

Nancy Pelosi, in an attempt to justify abortion, ties Roe vs Wade with the Catholic Church’s tenet on abortion. This woman has no clue, should keep her mouth shut rather to further demonstrate her ignorance.

REP. PELOSI: I would say that as an ardent, practicing Catholic, this is an issue that I have studied for a long time. And what I know is, over the centuries, the doctors of the church have not been able to make that definition. And Senator–St. Augustine said at three months. We don’t know. The point is, is that it shouldn’t have an impact on the woman’s right to choose. Roe v. Wade talks about very clear definitions of when the child–first trimester, certain considerations; second trimester; not so third trimester. There’s very clear distinctions. This isn’t about abortion on demand, it’s about a careful, careful consideration of all factors and–to–that a woman has to make with her doctor and her god. And so I don’t think anybody can tell you when life begins, human life begins. As I say, the Catholic Church for centuries has been discussing this, and there are those who’ve decided…

That’s why we have this fight in Congress over contraception. My Republican colleagues do not support contraception. If you want to reduce the number of abortions, and we all do, we must–it would behoove you to support family planning and, and contraception, you would think. But that is not the case. So we have to take–you know, we have to handle this as respectfully–this is sacred ground. We have to handle it very respectfully and not politicize it, as it has been–and I’m not saying Rick Warren did, because I don’t think he did, but others will try to.

Joe Lieberman hinted on Sunday on Meet The Press that he would speak at the Republican Convention.  Sitting next to John Kerry, known to some as Lurch, Lieberman described what he would say when he attended the convention if he attended the convention.

MSNBC liberal newsreader Mika Brzezinski

Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzenitski Brzezinski has the IQ of a kumquat… or less. She is disturbed that Republicans hire Republicans to work in a Republican administration. Mika’s partner, Joe Scarborough found her comment as unusual as he went on to describe, surprise,surprise, that his staff at MSNBC had no Republicans and was acknowledged by his Morning Joe producer. Keith Olbermann had a temper tantrum at a memorial reception for the late Tim Russert.

According to Page Six Olbermann was peeved last week when he didn’t get a first-class ticket to Washington, DC, for a private service for Tim Russert.

Apparently Olbermann didn’t get the tickets he demanded and was not at the service.

Olbermann was sighted having a Ketchup tantrum later.

The Page Six article goes on to describe the Olbermann tantrums:

Olbermann was screaming into the phone on Tuesday because there were no first-class train tickets available for that day, and he wanted to make sure he would ride first-class on Wednesday. According to the source, Olbermann berated a staffer who was coordinating Wednesday’s Kennedy Center memorial by yelling, “You better hope to God there is a first-class train ticket tomorrow.”

Our insider elaborated, “MSNBC was dealing with who could come to the private ceremony Tuesday and who couldn’t, among the hundreds of people who worked with or for Russert – and Keith was ranting about not getting a first-class ticket.”

We’re told Olbermann didn’t get to Tuesday’s ceremony, and went to Washington by car to broadcast from outside the Kennedy Center the next day. An aghast witness there said, “As guests were making their way into the memorial, Keith went apoplectic because there were no ketchup packets at the Kennedy Center.”

Olbermann was heard saying outside the service, “this place is going to hell,” because his Washington staff couldn’t find ketchup packets for lunch at the Center. An NBC insider claimed, however, “Keith did not have lunch at the Kennedy Center and was not eating on the set because he was anchoring a broadcast.”

A rep for Olbermann snapped: “Since whatever you’re going to print is an outright lie, you can go ahead and write whatever you want. That’s on the record and applies to all future items you might make up.”

Krazy Keith… nuff said.

Scott McClellan appeared before the House Judiciary committee yesterday. When asked about Joseph Wilson and the defamation of Wilson’s character by Sheila Jackson- Lee McClellan seemed to sympathize with the harm that had been done by the evil forces in the White House during and before his tenure as Press Secretary. Jackson-Lee asked McClellan specifically about the Uranium in Niger that Wilson reported on.

Later in his testimony Scott was confronted by Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) with some disturbing facts via a declassified CIA report. McClellan visually surprised with these facts began to backtrack.

I put together a video (below) with Jackson-Lee’s question followed by King’s quizzing of McClellan.

The MSM will never televise or write about this exchange.

This from a Reuters Article:

Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King said McClellan should have simply kept his mouth shut.

“From an integrity standpoint, could you not have taken some of this to the grave with you and done this country a favor?” King asked.

McClellan said his book accurately represented his views. Going public with his doubts has not been easy, he said.

What the article does not mention was King’s statements before he asked that question. The MSM will not reveal the whole story.

This hearing was nothing more than a witch hunt with hints of impeaching the President and Vice President. The Democrats have nothing better to do such as legislation on removing the offshore drilling moritorium The FISA Bill.

The Democrats are becoming more irrelevant as the election season approaches with these stunts.
