The Democrat party controlled congress has reached a record low approval rating.  Will the Pelosi-Reid partnership continue for another 2 years?  Is the electorate still asleep?

From Gallup:

Congress’ job approval rating has dropped five percentage points over the past month, from 19% in June to 14% in July, making the current reading the lowest congressional job approval rating in the 34-year Gallup Poll history of asking the question. The previous low was 18%, last reached in May.

The 75% currently disapproving of Congress is just shy of the record-high 78% in March 1992.

These results, from a July 10-13 Gallup Poll, follow 18 months of dismal job approval ratings for Congress, during which approval has usually registered below 30%, and has averaged only 25%.

Still, the 14% approval rating is extraordinary. Approval of Congress has fallen below 20% only six times in the 34 years Gallup has measured it. Including the latest reading, four of those have come in the past year: in July, June, and May 2008, and in August 2007. The two additional readings were from March 1992 (in the midst of the House bank check-kiting scandal) and June 1979 (during an energy crisis that resulted in surging gas prices and long gas lines), when either 18% or 19% of Americans approved of the job Congress was doing.

The latest Rasmussen poll shows that President Bush has a low approval rating of 33% (twice that of Congress’ approval).

For the week ending July 13, just 33% of Americans say they approve of the way that George W. Bush is performing his job as President.

It seems strange that the Democrats have any chance of re-election in November.  The Democrat controlled congress has an all time low approval rating of   9% according to Rasmussen Reports.

The percentage of voters who give Congress good or excellent ratings has fallen to single digits for the first time in Rasmussen Reports tracking history. This month, just 9% say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category.

The Democrat Presidential candidates want to increase the “taxes to the rich.” How about a voluntary tax that is available to these politicians now? A suggestion for the Democrats such as John Edwards, Mrs. Bill Clinton and her husband, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer and their billionaire supporters Warren Buffet and George Soros : Make a voluntary contribution of a 5-10% surcharge of your pre-tax income immediately. This is available now and they can send the checks to the Federal Government pronto.

I would ask these politicians and billionaires to disclose the amounts that they contributed with a disclosure of canceled checks. In other words put your money where your “beliefs” are.

James Lord of The American Spectator suggests that they pay up to 15% of their income with a Credibility Tax:

Democrats are saying something else these days that complements perfectly the opportunity given them by the chance to pay the Credibility Tax. They have made much over the last several years with a charge that President Bush has not called the American people to sacrifice during a time of war. Not long ago several top Democrats in the House proposed that in the spirit of sacrifice high-income taxpayers should have a 12%-15% “war surtax” added to their tax bill if they favored the war on Iraq. There is no reason to limit this idea to paying for the war, and the beauty of the Credibility Tax is that one doesn’t have to wait for that irritating legislative procedure to make something like this a law. Democrats, who love the idea of adding programs to the federal government, could just start sacrificing right now — today — by ponying up an additional 12%-15% of their income for the Credibility Tax. Even better, the Treasury Department specifically says that paying these funds is a demonstration of “patriotism.” With that kind of applause coming straight from the government itself these candidates would be instantly vaccinated against any future “swiftboating” episodes that might churlishly challenge their love of country.

Where would the money go once donated by these rich patriots? Why, to the plethora of federal programs liberals love. Let’s take Hillary Clinton’s list as displayed on her website. Receipts from the Credibility Tax could be used to help provide affordable health care for all Americans, reduce the cost of energy and make us energy independent, expand access to affordable, high-quality child health care, make college more affordable, protect families from predatory lenders and help them avoid foreclosures, balance the federal budget “so we don’t pass today’s massive debts to the next generation” and much, much more. This being the same Hillary Clinton who exuberantly says she has “a million ideas” for the government to spend money, you’ll understand if I list only a few. But you get the idea.

Think of the political opportunity here for these folks. John Edwards could call a press conference in the massive new gym he’s built on his multi-million dollar North Carolina property and have a check signing ceremony before hopping his next flight to New Orleans to collect his investment from all those residents losing their homes to his favorite investment company. Hillary and Bill could have their check signing in Rep. Charlie Rangel’s Harlem, with the tax-happy chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee by their side as they signed individual Credibility Tax checks. As a matter of fact, Rangel himself could write his own Credibility Tax check, setting a superb example for his fellow tax-paying Americans. Having just proposed a half-trillion dollar tax increase over the next ten years, Rangel and his friend could get an early start on filling those Treasury coffers. With all these prominent liberals raising their own taxes 15% for this year (and why not retroactively for last year?) the fever of self-sacrifice among our liberal friends could sweep the country. After all, you can set your own tax rate when you pay the Credibility Tax. Why cut your payment as low as 15%? Why not, as most liberals favor with the capital gains tax, raise it to 30%? Or 50%? The higher the better, right?

End The Dream

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Majority Whip Dick Durbin plans to bring to the Senate floor today the newest incarnation of the Dream Act, S. 2205, which would provide illegal alien students the ability to attend college while paying lower in-state tuition rates. In order to pass the Senate, the bill will need to clear two difficult procedural hurdles — it needs 60 votes to go forward today and another 60 on Friday. The Senate should kill it today.

Yesterday afternoon, Mr. Durbin — together with Dream Act supporters Republican Sens. Chuck Hagel and Dick Lugar — invited congressional staff to Room SC-6 of the Capitol be “briefed” by a group of illegal aliens seeking to attend college who would benefit from the bill, as well as representatives of such open-borders organizations as the National Education Association and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. (Judiciary Committee Democratic staffers organizing the event specified that the event was for staff only, and that “no press” would be welcome.)

At one level, it’s understandable that pro-amnesty politicians would be reluctant to invite the press to what was in effect a lobbying session with illegal aliens in the Capitol building. After all, the American people have made it abundantly clear that they disagree with Washington elites on illegal immigration and the in-state tuition. The Dream Act was included in the bipartisan amnesty bill pushed by the White House and Sen. Edward Kennedy that imploded in late June, after Americans deluged their senators with telephone calls, e-mails and faxes protesting the legislation. Last month, Mr. Durbin, with the support of Mr. Hagel and Mr. Lugar, tried to attach the Dream Act as an amendment to the defense authorization bill. But once again, America protested, forcing Mr. Durbin & Co. to shelve the legislation — until today.

The 41 Democrat Senators that signed the letter to Rush Limbaugh’s Syndication Company (Clear Channel) have been hoodwinked by Rushbo. Limbaugh has obtained their original letter and is auctioning it off on EBay with the proceeds going to a Marine Corps Charity.Harry Reid’s letter is coming back to bite him and the other 40 Democrat Party senators in their collective asses.

A letter sent to Rush Limbaugh’s boss demanding he be chastised for comments he made on the air about “phony soldiers” is now on the auction block, and the latest bid is a cool $45,000.

One hundred percent of the money raised from the eBay auction will go to educate the children of Marines and law enforcement officers who died while on duty, the auction says.

Bids will continue until Friday for the letter signed by 41 Democratic senators and sent on Oct. 2 to Mark P. Mays, president of Clear Channel, the parent company of the conservative talk show host’s radio broadcast. The winning bidder will get the letter, the “Halliburton briefcase in which this letter is secured 24 hours a day;” a letter of thanks from Limbaugh and a picture of the talkmeister announcing the auction at a speech in Philadelphia delivered last Thursday.

“This historic document may well represent the first time in the history of America that this large a group of U.S. senators attempted to demonize a private citizen by lying about his views. As such, it is a priceless memento of the folly of (Senate Majority Leader) Harry Reid and his 40 senatorial co-signers,” reads the eBay announcement.

As of early Monday, 108 bids by 43 bidders had been made on the letter, whose opening bid price was $100.

Playing up the controversy over comments Limbaugh made last month in which he used the term “phony soldiers,” seemingly to describe U.S. troops opposed to the Iraq war, Limbaugh told his audience last week that he is going to turn lemons into lemonade.

“Over the last 20 years, I’ve been called a chicken hawk. I have been accused of being blindly supportive of the military. Now, all of a sudden, I hate the military. All of a sudden, I’m critical of soldiers who are critical of the war — which I have never been,” Limbaugh said in his Friday broadcast.

“I would like to issue this challenge to Senator Reid and the 41 senators who signed his letter. You say you support the military. You say you’re big, and you think it’s patriotic, and that I was unpatriotic. Well, I would like for each of you, Senator Reid, and the 40 senators who signed, to match whatever the winning bid is. Show us your support for the U.S. military by all 41 of you pro-military people, Democrats in the Senate, match whatever the winning bid is and send that amount to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation,” Limbaugh said. Limbaugh sits on the board of the foundation that has dispersed $29 million for scholarships.

The Clowns are at it again.

What was once said about “not starting an argument with someone who buys ink by the barrel” can also be said about someone who’s voice can be found in every populated area of the western hemisphere for at least 3 straight hours every day.

3 hours a day, 5 days a week, repeated on Saturday and Sunday, with newsletter and website and podcast for a low,low monthly subscription. Democrats seem to have collectively decided in their “moment of triumph” with a whopping 24% approval rating to wander into the idealogical bull ring, not dressed as a matador, but wearing a red union suit, clown shoes and a big red nose, and then bend over while facing the other way and waving at the kids in the front row of the stands.

Right in the path of the charging enraged bull.

My cable system was so enthralled with the faux filibuster in the US Senate on C-Span2 that it aired VH1 at 8pm Tuesday evening instead.

The theatrics of the Democrat Party and Harry Reid lost some viewers in Florida.

A synopsis of the events in a nutshell:

Democrats whined.

Responsible Republicans chastised the whiners.
