Streisand to Sing for Obama

Barbra Streisand will perform for Barack Obama on Sept. 16 in Hollywood for the Obamessiah.

Variety:

Barbra Streisand will be among the headliners at a fund-raiser for Barack Obama on Sept. 16, where she will perform for the presidential candidate at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

The plans for the event were outlined this morning and Streisand confirmed that she would take the stage. The hotel ballroom holds an estimated 700 people.

Obama’s fund-raiser is expected to be his final visit to raise money here before the general election.

Obama will start the evening with a 5 p.m. dinner event for about 250 people at Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills, the historic estate once owned by the legendary Doheny family. Tickets for the event are $28,500.

Later, he will attend a reception at the Beverly Wilshire, followed by Streisand’s special performance. Tickets for the event are $2,500 per person.

Co-hosts for event include the DreamWorks team of Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen, as well as political consultant Andy Spahn. It’s also being organized with Obama’s Southern California finance team.

As a leading authority on stupid individuals I find it an insult that Barack Obama’s 20 year tenured pastor would try to infringe on my territory with his pronouncement of Bill O’Reilly’s and Sean Hannity’s Intelligence Quotient. Especially with the evident inane remarks he expressed in the past.

The embattled former minister of Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama fired back at the news media during a Chicago funeral service.

 

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s remarks were reported Sunday in the Chicago Sun-Times.

 

Wright didn’t mention church member Obama, who has denounced Wright’s inflammatory comments circulated in video excerpts of his past sermons.

 

But in his eulogy at Saturday’s funeral for the late R. Eugene Pincham, a retired judge, Wright did pillory some of his critics, including Fox News commentators Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity.

 

Wright said Pincham befriended “Jews, Muslims, rabbis, imams, fathers in the Catholic church and (Louis) Farrakhan in the Islamic faith.”

 

He said: “Fox News can’t understand that. O’Reilly will never get that. Sean Hannity’s stupid fantasy will keep him forever stuck on stupid when it comes to comprehending how you can love a brother who does not believe what you believe.”

 

The remarks drew a standing ovation. Officials said the megachurch’s 2,500-seats were filled with mourners.

 

Wright also spoke of patriotism and the history of America’s treatment of blacks. He said the country’s founding fathers “planted slavery and white supremacy in the DNA of this republic,” and said that Thomas Jefferson wrote, “God would punish America for the sin of slavery. I guess that makes Thomas Jefferson unpatriotic.”

 

Saturday’s funeral at Trinity United Church of Christ was closed to reporters. But the Sun-Times had a reporter inside the church. The newspaper’s Web site Sunday carried a recording of Wright’s remarks as he eulogized Pincham, who died at age 82 earlier this month following a long illness.

 

While Obama in the past has denounced the most inflammatory of Wright’s comments, the candidate has said Wright shouldn’t be judged solely on a handful of remarks. Obama expressed admiration and support for the pastor who officiated at his wedding, baptized his two daughters and inspired the title of his best-selling book, “The Audacity of Hope.”

I would suggest that the Reverend Jeremiah Wright stick to criticizing his own type.

In a lame attempt to go undercover when it wasn’t necessary, a Dateline NBC reporter attempted to manufacture a story about Defcon 15 felonies. She was outed at the gathering and fled with other credentialed reporters and members chasing her down the street. Madigan, the NBC Producer for Dateline had no comment. Quite an interesting exchange. Check it out below.

Undercover reporter Michelle Madigan (Associate Producer of NBC Dateline) got a little more than she bargained for when she tried to sneak in to DEFCON 2007 with hidden cameras to get someone to confess to a felony. When DEFCON staff announced the “spot the undercover reporter” game and told the audience that an undercover reporter was taking video to catch someone confessing to a hacking crime, Madigan bolted from the conference premises followed by a pack of ~150 DEFCON attendees and reporters trying to photograph and video tape her. DEFCON officials never got the chance to bring Madigan on stage to offer her a press badge so that she could cover the rest of the event above board.

DEFCON organizers caught wind of this from undisclosed sources and casually contacted Madigan to see if she wanted official press credentials and a press badge to cover DEFCON. Reporters in the pressroom were then fully briefed on the situation before the “spot the undercover reporter game” so that they could cover the event.

According to Senior DEFCON official “Priest” who works for the Government in his day job, Madigan declined press credentials on four separate occasions (twice on phone and twice at DEFCON). Madigan proceeded to register as a regular DEFCON attendee and even told a DEFCON staffer that she was going to the bathroom to get her hidden camera ready. When a DEFCON goon (staffer) explained to Madigan that secret video taping wasn’t allowed, Madigan not knowing she was speaking to a goon replied that she didn’t think it wasn’t a problem. The staffer then followed Madigan around and watched her as she panned her hidden camera around the entire “Capture the flag” room to get unauthorized video of the members.

Madigan was apparently trying to do a shock piece for NBC Dateline to show middle America how criminal underground hackers had descended on DEFCON Las Vegas to learn tricks of the trade and how Federal Agents were tracking them down. When a DEFCON staffer spoke to Madigan posing as regular attendee, Madigan commented that people in Kansas (reference to middle America) would be very interested in what was “really” going on in DEFCON. DEFCON official “Priest” also had reason to believe that that Madigan was planning to out uncover federal agents attending DEFCON and expressed some serious concern about the safety and privacy of those agents. Because of this, staffers used this to lure Madigan to the room where they planned to out her instead in front of DEFCON attendees in the “spot the undercover reporter” game but Madigan bolted from the scene before her photo was put up on the projector.

The sad part of this story is that Madigan was given every opportunity to get a press pass and get access to any of the speakers and attendees above board. Even after the secret video taping she was offered a chance cover the rest of the conference with an official press badge. This is my second year covering DEFCON and I’ve never had any problems getting photos or video from willing attendees and speakers but that’s not what Madigan was going after. She wanted to paint a picture that would shock “people in Kansas” about DEFCON and that’s not what DEFCON is about. The Feds, Press, and hacker community have built up a level of mutual trust at DEFCON so that we have a place to talk openly and honestly. After taking an unofficial poll in the press room here, not one person appreciated Madigan’s antics.

I mean, perfectly happy. And while he’s at it, why doesn’t he look at Jan. 20, 2001.” He could ask Denise Rich. That’s the day she took her checkbook to auction.

But the off-spring of The Goracle proved me wrong. Al Gore’s son (Al Gore the 3rd) was picked up for speeding in a Toyota Prius…. Oh… and was inebriated too. A.G. the 3rd was allegedly drunk and in possession of other illegal substances.

Of course, this type of arrest isn’t foreign to the 3rd .

Al Gore III, son of the former vice president, was arrested in California early Wednesday morning for suspicion of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs.

Gore III was allegedly driving a blue Toyota Prius at speeds over 100 mph when he was pulled over around 2:15 a.m. on the San Diego freeway south of Los Angeles. Smelling marijuana, police searched the car and found less than one ounce of marijuana and prescription drugs Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall, Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jim Armormino said. The last pharmaceutical is a treatment for attention deficit disorder.

“He does not have a prescription for any of those drugs,” Amormino said.

Gore, 24, was released from a men’s jail in Santa Ana after posting $20,000 bail.

This is the second time he was arrested on a marijuana possession charge. Police in Montgomery County, Md., pulled over Gore in December 2003 and noticed the smell of pot. Police were also tipped off by the open windows and sunroof despite the freezing temperature.

Elizabeth Edwards joins a gunfight armed with a butter knife.Chris Matthews is a perfect example of the MSNBC “talent”. This is one of the reasons that the network is in the ratings cellar. Matthews is confused, misinformed, delusional and cranky. The only way he can obtain any significant viewership is to have a conservative such as Ann Coulter to appear on his ratings challenged show.

Last night I had an important talk with Ann Coulter and I want to tell you what happened.

On Monday, Ann announced that instead of using more homophobic slurs to attack John, she will just wish that John had been “killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”

Where I am from, when someone does something that displeases you, you politely ask them to stop. So when I heard Ann was going to be on “Hardball” last night, I decided to call in and ask her to engage on the issues and stop the personal attacks. I told her these kinds of personal attacks lower our political dialogue at precisely the time when we need to raise it, and set a bad example for our children.

How did she respond? Sadly, perhaps predictably, with more personal attacks.

John’s campaign is about the issues—but pundits like Ann Coulter are trying to shout him down. If they will not stop, it is up to us cut through the noise. Help us fight back—please give what you can today.

The confrontation was orchestrated by M(ess)NBC, the Shyster and his wife for campaign cash. So who is exploiting whom?
