Obama’s sending a knife fighter to battle the gal with the .357 magnum. Hillary may resemble a pitbull, but that’s as far as it goes.
Maybe Hillary sees her chance to run in 2012 against Vice President Palin as a losing situation.
From the Times Online:
It seems only yesterday that Hillary Clinton was battling against Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination. But when she hits the campaign trail in Florida tomorrow Clinton’s target will be Sarah Palin, a new threat to her ambition to be the first woman elected to the White House.
Clinton lost no time, attacking Palin moments after John McCain delivered his presidential acceptance speech in St Paul, Minnesota, last week. Reporters’ BlackBerrys buzzed with her verdict. “No way, no how, no McCain-Palin,” she said.
Officially, Clinton will not go head-to-head with Palin, a self-proclaimed hockey mom and “pitbull in lipstick”.
The Obama camp wants to keep the focus on McCain’s supposed continuation of the Bush years and his skimpy policies for reviving the economy and improving healthcare, rather than on his running mate.
Nor does Clinton want to appear ungenerous to the Republicans’ first female vice-presidential candidate, even if she does resent Palin’s startling emergence.
A Clinton insider, said: “We’re not going to be anybody’s attack dog against Sarah Palin.” The New York senator, 60, knows, however, that Palin represents the biggest obstacle to Democratic victory in November.
A prominent Democratic strategist, Tad Devine, said: “The strategic imperative right now is to do something about Palin and prevent her cutting through the race. She is practising the same slash and burn politics of division of the Bush years. Hillary Clinton can make the charge that Governor Palin represents the far right.”

If HRC attacks Sarah Palin, it will be the end of HRC politically.
And it will ensure that the defeat of Obama, or whatever his real name might be, in November will be even worse that it could’ve been.
Hillary will not attack Palin, if she does it will be a major strategic error on the part of the Obama camp. The attempt to cause division among McCain and Hillary supporters will only furhter the Hillary supporters rift with Obama. They are not stupid and know what he is trying to accomplish. But we must remember not to play into Obama’s hand either. Hillary supporters are our allies in this, differences on policy are okay. We just cannot let the Obama camp dredge up the old rivalry and play on it. We need them as much as they need us.

Mrs. Clinton has not attacked anybody on race, age, religion, gender until now. I doubt she will start now. If she does, I agree with CKA in Red State USA (first sentence) and Critical Thinker (second part of the first sentence).
I just received this news also and blogged about it. I’ll repeat my thoughts here:
Yes it’s HILLARY that obama needs..NOW. But wait…he ‘tried’ to chew her up and spit her out during the campaign, he did NOT choose her as his VP, but he needs her now more than ever. WHY is that? Because she’s a WOMAN! What a straight up idiot he is. THIS will not work. We all know now that obama is just using Hillary and what Hillary fails to realize is that this will cost HER – not obama.
Just want to “second” the comments already posted. Agree that Senator Clinton can only damage her own future political career by attacking Palin. I happen to be supporting McCain-Palin because of the platform on which they are running. However, I know others who support the Republican ticket due to the shameful treatment of Clinton AND because they hope she will run in 2012. If a classy woman (there, I said it!) like Clinton goes on the attack, she will simply be reinforcing (if not outrightly condoning) the shabby treatment she herself received. And what message will that send to her supporters? The same message we received when she caved in on the nomination process last month – that it’s still an “old boys’ network.” Really hope she doesn’t go on the attack, especially if McCain has some high position in mind for her in his administration.

A piece of crap rightwingnut is a piece of crap rightwingnut, no matter their gender. Anyone who supported Hillary for her principles cannot in good faith support Sarah Palin simply because Sarah Palin is a women “just like” Hillary.
The only thing Palin and Clinton have in common is female reproductive organs.
And pointing that out does not condone any form of sexism that exists in the politicial world. Voting for any old woman just because they’re a woman is about at sexist as it comes.
This is the way I see it now…more clearly. It appears (actual fact) that the blacks of this country voted for obama based on RACE. So now if I am going to be called a NAME then it’s going to be a SEXIST because I’m voting for MCCAIN/PALIN. Oh and one more thing, I’m a registered DEM that did vote for HILLARY in the primary, but I will NOT be voting for the DEM that the super delegates chose – they got it wrong! Very, very wrong!
