John McCain has picked Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential candidate. The emergence of Palin will boost the McCain candidacy.
From ABC News:
The 44-year-old Palin brings working class roots and appeal to female voters, becoming only the second female vice presidential candidate on a major party ticket and a first for the GOP.
Being first is nothing to new to Palin (pronounced PALE-IN). She is the first female governor of the Last Frontier, the 49th state to join the Union in 1959 and the 48th most populous state.
Palin is also the youngest governor in Alaska’s short statehood history, taking office in 2006 amidst attempts by Democrats to turn the reliably Republican state to their column.
Gov. Palin is married with five children, a staunch opponent of abortion rights, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

–What a SPEECH!!! and what a RECORD this woman has –and the democrats are already criticizing her lack of foreign affairs experience—well hello she has more than obama and obama is the presidential candidate not the vice-presidental—and her judgment and backbone in combination would serve her well in any situation–and she is a TERRIFIC PUBLIC SPEAKER—GREAT PICK
I agree. Women, conservatives, republicans, and young people are going to see Sarah Palin as the best pick. Obama critics beware. Negative comments about a small town, strong WOMAN will not go well after what the Democrats did to Hillary.
Congratulations on macain and his pick of Sarah Palin. She is wonderful, and a breath of fresh air and she was so kind to talk about hillary and farraothank you will bring the republicans together and unite the party and help it come back to it’s social concervative roots. good luck tto you both and i hope the storm does not delay the convention. a canadian
I’m so relieved that McCain Picked some one I could enthusiatically support for President in Four or Eight years time.
If I were McCain, I would declare this :
First of all, the Commander in Chief is the President, not the VP and thank God I am in excellent health (ask my Mother who is 93 and still going strong).
Secondly, let’s compare Obama’s actual experience with the experience of Sarah Palin and let’s see who is best prepared to face possible emergencies.
Barack Obama was a ‘community organiser and Sarah Palin was a Mayor. Is a Mayor any less than a community organiser ?
Barack Obama did actually 143 of work as a US Senator before he started his run to be President. Sarah Palin has actually worked for 2 years as Governor before becoming my VP choice. Is a State Governor any less than a Senator ?
I should add than whilst Obama did not particularly distinguish himself as a senator, Governor Palin did receive the highest grade of any state Governor in the US (80%)
In addition, Sarah Palin has commanded the National Guard. What has Barack Obama ever commanded ?
And let’s remember than I am comparing my Vice-President’s qualifications – my number TWO – with those of the man who wants to be Number ONE. And the truth is ‘their number one does not even begin to compare with my number two …’
I hope John McCain and the Media commentators will pick up this objective comparison.

McCain in the Membrane…watch out because McCain’s INSANE!
I do not understand McCain at all. All summer long he has blasted Obama because he does not have enough experience and has not spent enough time in Washington D.C. to be corrupted.
Then in a blink of an eye, McCain nominated an inexperienced governer to be his running mate. In some ways I am not surprised because it is the typical Republican strategy: FLIP FLOP and spin the argument.
But c’mon, I expected better of McCain. Up until this point, I respected him because I saw him as a closet BLUE DOG DEMOCRAT in the GOP. I guess he is not the maverick I thought he was back in 2000.
No disrespect to the People & State of Alaska, but this is a state that has more reindeer than people. Gov. Palin has not even completed her first term and is clearly unqualified.
Gov. Palin’s sole purpose is to be a puppet to draw the media attention that only Paris Hilton can appreciate.
One more proof that McCain’s judgement is clouded and he has no clue!

Jorge–
McCain chose a person with administrative experience, which Obama does not have. If Palin is unqualified to be vice-president, how can anyone claim that Obama is qualified to be president?
If this pick drives away all the leftists trying to infiltrate the GOP, it will be a victory of epic proportions.
BREAK THE GLASS CEILING !!!
WOW … What a great pick!!! America should elect
McCain & Palin for the Whitehouse in November,
for a return to wholesome American values.
An experienced Governor for V.P. vs. a
community organizer for President … I pick Palin.
No Wright, no Farrakahn, no Ayers, no Rezko,
no mean Michelle, NOBAMA
Administrative experience indeed. A year and a half as governor of the 47th largest state. Elected governor because the electorate was voting against the other guy, not for Palin.
Head of the Alaska National Guard? Are you joking? That job comes with being the governor, it doesn’t mean squat.
But, to be fair, she has more executive experience: mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, population approx. 5000 during her term in office. Basically the same experience as a superintendent of your average suburban school system.
And McBush met her ONCE, six months ago? He did a PHONE interview with her for the position of Vice President of the United States? Now THAT is an extensive vetting process!
And today in Pittsburgh she says “It’s great to visit a different part of the country.” John McBush’s new strategery: run for Vice President, visit some new states you’ve never visited before, see the sights, get a tan.
This will go down as one of the most desperate VP selections ever. McBush just admitted that he realizes he’s got a snowball’s chance in hell of winning this election.
Ah, Diogenes, BUT–
Obama was selected as senator because there IS no Republican party in Illinois, for all intents and purposes. He would not have won against any real candidate.
A year and a half of governor of any state is a year and a half more administrative experience than Obama has.
If Commander of the Alaska National Guard doesn’t mean squat because it came with the position, then Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the USA doesn’t mean squat either. It comes with the position.
It is great to visit other parts of the country. I’ve done it. Have you?
I don’t suppose it has ever occurred to you that the vetting process does not have to involve any actual physical contact at all. Learning about someone doesn’t matter to you, I suppose, just how many times you’ve said hello? Well, I find that face-to-face meetings with a person give me much less information than behind-the-scenes investigations do (and would that I’d known that before I ended up involved in a lawsuit).
Next question?
No further questions. No need. If anybody buys Sarah Palin as being qualified, they’re delusional, and no amount of discussion will alter that.
But here’s a rhetorical question: before Friday, did you have any idea who Sarah Palin is, and what she stands for? Didn’t think so. What keeps me going is that, after Nov. 4, Sarah Palin will be as immmediately recognizable and important as James Stockdale.
Vice is a tough job Swears in newly elected congress,Breaks ties in senate vote(the first job is to be a hatchet job on opponents that’s a hell’ofa job
