Why do Muslims want to assure the voting public that Barack Hussein Obama isn’t a Muslim? A Christian supported by Allah’s legions? This doesn’t pass the smell test.
Faced with White House hopefuls they fear are not entirely sympathetic to their issues, American Muslims are stepping up their activism to unprecedented levels, hoping to influence the new administration in its infancy.
Since the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks on U.S. landmarks that killed about 3,000 people, many of Muslim or Arab origin have struggled to convince at times skeptical fellow citizens that they can be Muslim and loyal to the United States.
“The number of people who have become more active and visible on the national political front has increased dramatically because people have suddenly sensed that they have to … defend themselves as Americans, defend themselves as Arabs and Muslims,” said Shibley Telhami, a Mideast scholar.
Not all Arabs are Muslim nor vice versa, but they face similar problems and share many concerns.
Tarek El-Messidi, 27, of Cincinnati, went door-to-door in South Carolina for Democratic candidate Barack Obama on an unusual mission. The Muslim volunteer had to assure voters Obama isn’t Muslim.
El-Messidi said younger Muslims lean more toward Obama than Senator John McCain, the presumptive Republican choice.
“In talking to Muslims, they’re really struggling between two things: They don’t know whether to view Barack Obama as a lesser of two evils or a really good candidate that they are excited about … there’s no doubt they view him as a better candidate than McCain.”

Obama brings up his patriotism? That’s the Old Man’s doing, claiming that Obama would lose a war in order to win an election. That’s not just unpatriotic, it’s borderline treasonous. And when the Old Man is called on it, he has two standard responses:
“I never saud the word ‘patriotism’ so it wasn’t ME.”
“Did I mention I had been a prisoner of war forty years ago? How DARE you question me!”

Given diogenes’ continued insults and what other BBSOD supporters post elsewhere, you wonder: Is it that a requirement for being baptized in BBSOD’s blather is incivility? Are they programmed to respond thusly to anything said about BBSOD?
It doesn’t really matter, though.
All their protestations, all their invective, all their incivility cannot and will not combine to propel BBSOD and Joe Biden into the POTUS and VPOTUS positions.

But as for the political mathematics that McCain equals a third G.W.Bush term?
Keep dreaming. Keep repeating it. But BBSOD has run so fast to “center,” as if he knows where that is, that it’s he, not McCain, who seems to be parroting G.W. Bush. Examples? FISA, free trade, Iraq, faith-based initiatives.
While George Bush has disappointed many, many people, I’ll chose a modified Bush 3, if that is what McCain offers — and it isn’t — over a second Jimmy Carter term, which is what BBSOD seems to offer, if you can make any sense out of anything he says.
Of course, given American’s generally short memories, and given that it appears many of BBSOD’s supporters may not have even been alive then — or, if so, may not know that history — the McCain = GWB 3 gets more traction.
It helps, too, that the wrongly named MSM are wound tightly around BBSOD’s little finger. And they see nothing, hear nothing, say nothing but that which appears to promote him.
McCain voted with Bush 95% of the time in 2007.
Obama voted with Bush 40% of the time in 2007.
