Jimmy Carter hasn’t met a terrorist that he doesn’t like. Carter is scheduled to meet Khaled Meshala in Syria in mid-April. Meshala is the exiled leader of Hamas, a Palestinian terror group.
Former President Jimmy Carter is reportedly preparing an unprecedented meeting with the leader of Hamas, an organization that the U.S. government considers one of the leading terrorist threats in the world.
The Arabic-language newspaper Al-Hayat reported Tuesday that Carter was planning a trip to Syria for mid-April, during which he would meet with Khaled Meshal, the exiled head of the Palestinian terror group Hamas, on April 18.
Deanna Congileo, Carter’s press secretary, confirmed in an e-mail to FOXNews.com that Carter will be in the Mideast in April. Pressed for comment, Congileo did not deny that the former president is considering visiting Meshal.
“President Carter is planning a trip to the Mideast next week; however, we are still confirming details of the trip and will issue a press release by the end of this week,” wrote Congileo. “I cannot confirm any specific meetings at this point in time.”
Meshal, who lives in Syria to avoid being arrested by the Israeli government, leads Hamas from his seat in Damascus, where he is a guest of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
The State Department has designated Hamas a “foreign terrorist organization,” and some groups hold Meshal personally responsible for ordering the kidnapping of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack once said of the prospect of meeting with Meshal, “That’s not something that we could possibly conceive of.”
Some Carter critics called the latest reports typical of the ex-president.
“It’s about par for the course from President Carter, demonstrating a lack of judgment typical of what he does,” said John Bolton, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. “To go to Syria to visit Hamas at this point is just an ill-timed, ill-advised decision on his part.”
“I’m not surprised that Carter would do this, as he has been supporting Palestinian extremism for many years,” said Steve Emerson, director of the Investigative Project on Terrorism, a watchdog group.
In June 2007 Carter Jimmy Carter called the United States’ policy not to fund Iranian backed terrorist group Hamas, “criminal”. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded on CNN’s Situation Room that Carter’s comments were “bizarre.”
Jimmy Carter is an embarrassment to the United States. The Middle East Situation can in part be attributed to his disasterous Presidency.

Can’t someone put this old senile cout in a nursing home with an ankle monitor in case he goes near the door? He should be in jail for treason!!!!!
Not only is Pres. Carter probably the worst president in American history but he most assuredly is the worst former president in history. His constant harranguing of the President Bush is unseemly at best and unpatriotic at worst. He even hornswoggled the Clinton administration with his “deal” with the North Korean regime. Not only is he to blame for much of the situation in the middle east but he is to blame for much of the current problems with the North Korea and Iran. His handling of the Zimbabwe election when Pres. Mugabe was elected was farcial. Zimbabwe would never have had Pres. Mugabe without Pres. Carter’s meddling.
Pres. Carter needs a dose of reality.
Please No more NEWS today!!! First we hear that even Bill Clinton is FOR the Columbia trade pact ( She must have had someone else in bed with her last night)… Then we Hear that Jeremiah was Never a FROG But a Muslim before he became a ranting and Ravingt LOON pastor to Barry Ho and

Who ever is agnist what our Noble Peace Prize President is doing by meeting with terrorists should have there head examined. Poverty breeds terrorism and we should never of gone into Iraq. Also every nation ever born has started out at times with rebellion mostly, but at times with terrorism. 80% of the world is in poverty and 100,000,000 people do not know where there next meal is coming. By going to meet terrorists, President Carter is trying to see only one thing and that is if there is an in-road to a peaceful solution. We need more of people like President Carter to do what we can do for Peace. Next thing President Carter should be doing is meeting with China and work out something for Tibet.
Bill.. NOW really.. are you SELF MEDICATING AGAIN???
Allowing Carter to become a self appointed ambassador based on his great IRANIAN original Success is really a Prescription for ARMAGEDDON, Pest, Famine and total Distruction of the UNIVERSE!!
BILL
Are you serious? I assume that your speaking tongue-in-cheek. President Carter has had no success in negotiating any deals. The Camp David Accords were worked out before they actually showed up. Sadat and Begin needed somebody to underwrite the deal. Period. Pres. Carter screwed up Zimbabwe (Rhodesia), North Korea, Middle East, and Iran. His globetrotting diplomacy is an embarrassment to the country.
Garth.. I may be that Bill migh be the Chief writer of the SNL ” political” team which is running out of Bill and Shill Skits and is now concentrating on a new Comedy script on CAWTAH,, JAMMAH that is…
