NBC Buckles Under Pressure : Shuster Suspended After Team Hillary Pimps Shuster's 'Pimped Out' Remark

Is the Clinton campaign capitalizing on theDavid Shuster remark about Chelsea Clinton being ‘Pimped Out’ for political gain? Seems like it. Clinton’s minions won’t let the publicity from this story go.
In order to take the focus off Barack H. Obama’s campaign success Clinton’s campaign manufactured another controversy involving Clinton daughter Chelsea and the liberal MSNBC flack Shuster.

Was Chelsea ‘Pimped Out’ by Hillary’s Campaign machine?

David Shuster On Thurday’s Tucker about Chelsea contacting delegates to support her mother:

“But doesn’t it seem like Chelsea’s sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?”

Shuster in turn is suspended by NBC/MSNBC for the remark.

Now Hillary responds with her diatribe dissing MSNBC and Shuster:

Hillary Rodham Clinton on Saturday morning ripped MSNBC over reporter David Shuster’s suggestion that Chelsea Clinton was “sort of being pimped out” by the campaign.

“I found the remarks incredibly offensive,” Clinton told reporters in this snowy town outside Bangor. Earlier, she sent a letter to NBC brass that called for swift action against Shuster, who was suspended Friday by MSNBC.

“Nothing justifies the kind of debasing language that David Shuster used and no temporary suspension or half-hearted apology is sufficient,” Clinton wrote to NBC News President Steve Capus, who apparently had already called Clinton to personally apologize.

“I would urge you to look at the pattern of behavior on your network that seems to repeatedly lead to this sort of degrading language,” Clinton wrote. “There’s a lot at stake for our country in this election. Surely, you can do your jobs as journalists and commentators and still keep the discourse civil and appropriate.”

It’s not like this happened on a network with a lot of viewers. Has anyone noticed the things Oberman calls Republicans? The remark should have not been made, but since it had a simple apology will do and then move on.

Hillary is going to boycott their debate? Not when your a loser you won’t. She is beating the drum looking for sympathy.

  • Espi says:

Obama supporters from the left liberal media are as unscrupulous as are right wing conservatives and are willing to stoop to any level to demolish opposition to their latest messiah. David Shuster called Chelsea’s attempt to campaign for her mother as “pimping”. What has Michelle Obama done campaigning for her husband? Why did Shuster not describe Michelle Obama as a pimp for Barack? Or better still describe Oprah Winfrey as pimping for Barack?

Deliberately kicking someone and then say sorry does not undo the insult. NBC must sack Shuster so he learns a costly lesson for letting his own deep prejudices against Hillary to banish any trace of objectivity that he might pretend having as a “correspondent”!!

Wow! I didn’t think Schuster’s remark would create such a defiant revolt. Gee! Are they going to milk this for as much as they can get out of it? Now I see what it means to win at whatever it costs.

MSNBC…………you buckled under Imus which was totally wrong and now you have chickened out on an excellent voice like Schuster. Are you nuts? When does it all end? Bring him back soon. We miss his fair and balanced commentary.

For God sakes, do not touch Olberman, one of the only voices of reason on MSNBC. He keeps it real.

By the way, Michelle Obama is just another spouse stumping for her husband just like Bill is doing for HC. No pimping here. Oprah is just another surrogate like Chuck Norris.

  • Just a realist says:

The fact of the matter is, that here in 2008 the meaning/implication/usage of the word “pimp” and its derivatives has CHANGED.

Thirty years ago, back when there was still a red light on Interstate 90, a “pimp” was nothing other than a person who took advantage of the sexual appeal of women in his stable. As most know, a pimp was someone who lived off the avails of prostitution, and who was not a very nice person by reputation.

In this day and age of MySpace, the word “pimp” has just evolved so far beyond that original meaning, and I think it entirely wrong that Hillary is basing her response completely on what “pimp” meant back in her day.

In 2008 the average 14-year-old kid with a MySpace account reads the word “pimp” at least once every visit to the website. The new context seems to include exercises in polishing up your MySpace website and other ways to be directly or indirectly noticed by others there.

Prostitution is far, far, FAR from the minds of people under 30 who use that word in the MySpace context, and chances are that anyone today who even knows someone under 25 is using the word “pimp” much differently than it applied to the unlawful businesses not far from that stop light on Interstate 90 in Idaho 30 years ago.

Why can’t society admit this, and spell it out clearly for those who are unaware, and then move on?

  • Change...to what? says:

The rabid and illogical hate of the Clintons by the far left and far right of this country never ceases to amaze me. The misogynst, elitest boys club at MSNBC (Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Joe Scarobourogh and David Schuster) have been making outragously offenisve remarks about Hillary Clinton this entire campaign cycle. You simply haven’t been watching MSNBC if you claim otherwise.

Shame on you selfish, liberal educated voters for indulging in the Far Right’s favorite past time: Hillary hating.

  • why do you hate? says:

MSNBC bailed on Imus and now on Schuster. The world has become too PC, and nobody is allowed to say anything. Who cares what Imus or Schuster said. If the media was going to get rid of anyone who said something stupid, then there wouldn’t be a place for Al or Jesse or Dr. Dobson or Rush Limbaugh. Lighten up and let us decide.
