It all started here when Bill O’Reilly had Chris Dodd (d-Conn) on his show to debate the reasoning for most of the Democrat Party Presidential candidates’ desire to attend the Yearly Kos , a lefty convention. Dodd kept avoiding answering any of O’Reilly’s questions honestly and continually filibustered erratically with inane statements.
Dodd needed Fox News and Bill O’Reilly to gain any recognition with the far left as demonstrated on the Kos website.
Later in the video Dennis Miller smacks Dodd down in an admirable fashion.

Video Compliments of Hot Air
Probably as his campaign had anticipated Dodd is gaining popularity in the nutroots community as a result of the segment on O’Reilly.
The Kossacks regard Dodd as their newest hero :

It didn’t take long for Dodd to capitalize on his Factor appearance.

Thu Aug 02, 2007 at 01:51:22 PM PDTAs of this second, the clip you’re about to hear may very well be the talk of the Yearly Kos Convention. Matt Browner-Hamlin and I just got done presenting on a panel where we debuted the clip and it was met with thunderous applause.
Apparently the video will air tonight on “The Factor,” and we’ll have it up at chrisdodd.com the second it runs. Until then, here’s what you’ll see tonight … in audio format.
Please visit Chrisdodd.com to hear the clip and stand with Senator Dodd against unfair attacks on the netroots. Then be sure to come back and post a comment.

Note: I am tremendously proud to work for Senator Chris Dodd.
O’Reilly mentioned that he admired Joe Biden’s decision to avoid the convention.
Biden’s organization responds on the Daily Kos :
The simple truth is Joe Biden would be at YearlyKos if he could, but adding a book tour to all the demands of a campaign meant some things had to change. But we won’t stand by and let Bill O’Reilly try to drive a wedge between the progressive online community and us to make a false point on behalf of his half-baked theories. While not always agreeing with all members of the DailyKos community, Joe Biden respects what the YearlyKos convention – a diverse assembly of activists and organizations – represents as a vehicle for progressives to organize and advocate on behalf of democratic ideals and the Democratic Party.
…
Recently, I corrected Bill O’Reilly’s false assumptions about why Senator Biden will be unable to make it to the YearlyKos convention this weekend. Not surprisingly, he seems more confident in his gut than the truth.
It seems that Mr. O’Reilly just doesn’t get it. So, Bill, you’re on notice. The Biden for President Campaign will be at YearlyKos.
…
While Senator Biden can’t make it to YearlyKos, I’ve cleared my schedule for the next two days to attend the convention with two other staffers. Yes, it would have been great to have the candidate in attendance, and I wish that we could have made it happen. But I and my staff look forward to meeting everyone at the convention, to speak about the Senator and his plan to bring our troops home without leaving chaos behind in Iraq. And, most importantly, to demonstrate that Democrats – while not always united on every issue – are united in embracing new venues for open dialogue to better our communities and our country.
See you in Chicago,

Biden for President
Biden is sending two flunkies from his campaign staff to represent him at the Daily Kos Convention. If Biden’s two staffers could clear their schedule to attend why couldn’t the big guy himself?
A book tour could have been put on hold for his participation in the nutroots gathering. Peculiar…

Has Dodd never heard of the argumentum ad populum fallacy? Citing how many visitors The Daily Kos has is no defense for its innanity. Even if it were, Miller’s point about the vastly superior number of viewers of The Factor would be an adequate rebuttal. Dodd was firing blanks.
